On Wednesday evening, the Los Angeles Lakers will face the 3-3 Houston Rockets without star big man Anthony Davis.
Davis, who had been classified as questionable to play all day due to hip spasms, has been ruled out of Wednesday’s game, according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.
Backup big man Jaxson Hayes has also been ruled out for Wednesday’s game due to a left ankle sprain, leaving the Lakers severely shorthanded in the frontcourt.
The only good news for the Lakers today was the fact that Rui Hachimura was elevated to available, which means the Lakers will have some depth against Houston.
However, the squad will be significantly shorthanded versus Houston due to the absence of Davis, Hayes, Gabe Vincent, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Jalen Hood-Schifino.
Davis said earlier today that his hip was feeling better. But it was obvious that it wasn’t good enough for him to play.
The Lakers’ starting lineup for Wednesday’s game will be interesting to see. Christian Wood could be the starting center.
Hopefully, AD will be able to return to the court as soon as possible, especially with the Lakers preparing to play their first In-Season Tournament game against the Phoenix Suns – who are suddenly quite healthy — on Friday.
