Turning scars into art: Creative medical tattoo suggestions

In recent years, getting a tattoo for a medical purpose has grown increasingly common.

In an article that was published in 2021 in the journal Aesthetic Surgery Journal Open Forum, researchers from the University of Central Florida stated that the method was “increasingly employed with numerous medical disorders.” They also stated that it might help disguise scars, burns, and vitiligo.

Tattoos that mimic the appearance of 𝚗ipple s after a mastectomy are available to people who have had bгeast cɑ𝚗ceг  and have had a mastectomy. According to the findings of a study that was published in 2020 by researchers at the Georgetown University Medical Center, “tattoos are safer than nipple repair with grafts.”

Jenean LaCorte, an artist with a background in the classical arts who currently works as a medical tattooist, is 45 years old and launched her one-woman firm in 2018. After observing a relative who had been treated for cɑ𝚗ceг and had 𝚗 ipple s tattooed on her b г east s following surgery, she decided to switch careers from watercolor painting to the tattoo business.

In an interview with Insider, LaCorte stated that “She was upset with the outcomes, and I thought, ‘People deserve better.’”

Her area of expertise is in creating three-dimensional effects that can mimic the appearance of areolae. “I use sophisticated shading techniques,” LaCorte remarked.

She stated that the surgery, which costs approximately $600, is offered at a discount to some bгeast- cɑ𝚗ceг survivors who are unable to afford it, in addition to some individuals who have scars as a result of self-harm.

According to what LaCorte had to say , “We get a lot of donations.” Desert Harvest, a firm that provides an aloe-vera ointment for tattooed skin, is one of the companies that contributes to the fund that she maintains for her customers’ tattoos.
